Under direct supervision, the Maintenance Helper serves as an apprentice or helper to higher ranking maintenance personnel.
The work is carefully reviewed for accuracy and completeness.
Typical Duties Assists in making electrical , heating, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, painting and roofing repairs.
Performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled work.
Carries tools and supplies to work areas.
Keeps work tool, equipment and work areas clean and in good condition.
Assists in planting and maintaing shrubs, trees and grass.
Mows lawns rakes leaves, and performs other gbuilding and grounds maiteance work.
Assists in snow remova; activities.
Assists in making and repairing signs.
Assists in operation a variety of automotive and maintenance equipment.
Moves office furniture and file cabinets.
Additional knowledge, skills and abilities Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in buildings and grounds maintenance.
Ability to care for and use the tools and equipment needed to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair activities.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time.
